The festival of shamans, pualasakan, which takes place in the village of Puyuma, southeast of Taiwan, held on the third day of the third lunar month. The shamans are women who call the spirits and come into contact with them through trances and divination. The celebration of "pualasakan" lasts eight days during which they strengthen ties with their minds-helpers. The first day, the shamans gather in the shrine room of the Dean and opened the ceremony by informing spirits. On the second day, they move from sanctuary to sanctuary to purify. On the third day, they go to the river to purify themselves and their bags ritual. The fourth day is a rest day. On the fifth day, they recall the spirit-helpers who had gone to rest on the beach, so they return to the sanctuary. That evening, they make the new bags in the New Year rituals. On the sixth day, they proceed to the ceremony of the new animated bags rituals. On the seventh day, they go out in the garden picking herbs for their bag gets used to the sun. Then they offer a banquet and gifts to the villagers and sing songs of closing. On the last day, the ritual ends with a "journey into the supernatural," the world of shamans died.
