In Sri Lanka, ayurveda, a widely practiced form of traditional medicine, is used to control the natural energies of the body. For Sri Lankans, the body and the spirit are not two separate entities. This healing takes into account the effect on health of supernatural factors, such as demons and spirits. Treatments of patients by four different doctors enable us to better grasp the expectations of the patients and the techniques employed by the healers.
